Director TGCW

Meet the Counselor

Tell us about yourself

I’m Rhodel Christine Kabah and I’m the Director of the TGCW center and the lead counselor. I’m a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor. I hold certifications by the NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association) and the AAPC (American Association of Pastoral Counselors). I am advanced certified in Integrated Marriage and Family Therapy. I am also a board member of the Ashern Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to research and providing low cost mental health services through the use of innovation and evidence-based therapeutic models.

What’s your counseling style?
I have been described as warm, genuine, easy to talk to and dedicated. I believe that the most effective path to reaching your goals is a counseling-coaching model in which you are empowered by having someone to travel alongside you on your journey.

What’s unique about your counseling?
I believe that people deserve compassionate counseling backed by proven, therapeutic models. I want to help people receive whole-person centered care. I incorporate aspects of mindfulness, meditation, assessments, talk therapy, and other models to create a plan tailored to you.

What do you specialize in?
I specialize in communication conflicts, marriage, sex and family, addiction, individual, family, and couples counseling. We also feature a wide variety of therapeutic classes and educational immersion experiences offered monthly.

What typical kinds of people come in?
Well, I wouldn’t say there’s a typical type to come in but I see a lot of couples, a lot of individuals, and a lot of challenges around addictions, mood challenges including depression and anxiety, conflicts (within the family or work), and general questions about meaning and life. I also see a lot of people after or during a major life event like a divorce or financial crisis, a major health issue and aging in general; blended family issues, eating disorders, self-esteem and some of the issues that veterans face including PTSD are also major reasons for people to typically reach out.

What can I expect in my first session?
When you first decide to improve your health—including your peace of mind, your emotions, and your mental health—it can be a little bit intimidating. What will happen in the session? I try to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. Everything we do is confidential and private. You will meet with me, your counselor in our clean, private and comfortable counseling center, conveniently located on Callaghan Rd, just a few minutes from University medical, or you can choose an online therapy session. Simply let us know which you prefer when you Request an Appointment in the comments section. You and I will discuss your reasons for reaching out and from the first session we will create a plan that’s unique to your needs, experiences and your goals. I specialize in empathetic listening, but also in providing real, proven techniques to help you overcome some of your areas of challenge and conflict.

How do I find out more or schedule a session?
It’s easy. Simply click ‘Request an Appointment’. You’ll be able to easily schedule a time that works with your schedule. Or, just give us a call at (800) 390-7750 and our friendly staff will help to answer your questions. When you’re ready, we can help to book a session that’s convenient with your schedule. You can even request a Free consultation (15 minutes) on the phone if you’d like to chat about some things before your first session.

All of this is nice, but how much does it cost?
I believe that no one should be denied compassionate care simply because of cost. For that reason I offer some the lowest fees in the industry, and within the greater San Antonio and Austin regions. All sessions can be reduced thanks to a grant by the Ashern Institute. I encourage anyone interested in learning more to visit our payments information page.

TotalGenesis is an approved medical provider so you can use your FSA (flexible spending accounts), HSA or MSA cards to pay for the sessions if you so choose, or you can use any of the other accepted methods of payment. We’ll also provide you with a detailed receipt after each payment that you can submit for reimbursement from your insurance company should you choose to. Let us know if you have any questions and we will be happy to help.
